Even the earbuds are relatively compact and constructed of a strong mix of metal and plastic and are highly robust to survive several unintentional drops. This makes for powerful bass and a smooth replication of the treble.
The output on leakage is excellent. These in-ears never leak, and you don’t have to think about your music distracting anyone else, irrespective of the rate you listen to your music at. The Etymotic ER4XR’s efficiency in insulation is fantastic. Such in-ears have no active noise canceling (ANC) device, so actively maintain this degree of isolation. They achieve about 22dB of insulation in the bass range, where airplane and bus engine rumble sits, which is very good.
Throughout the mid-range, the isolate by around 29dB, which is great for blocking speech out? They gain more than 48dB of insulation in the treble zone, inhabited by hard sounds like S and Ts, which is excellent. It should also be remembered that their Silicone tips were used to weigh these headphones. Their compatible foam tips have significantly stronger insulation.
Decent for mixed usage. The Etymotic ER4XR are relatively clear headphones that actively block loads of noise with their special, unbreakable in-ear design.
