The monitor’s back is plastic and features a discrete gamer-focused look. The controls are easy to navigate. In the lower-left corner there is a joystick for accessing the on-screen display. The bezels are very slim, which is ideal for multi-monitor configurations. The frame is still wooden, which protects the display well. Unlike other VA screens, the Optix G27C4 has a strong contrast ratio, resulting in rich, inky blacks when displayed at night. It is almost perfect in dark scenes.
After calibration, any inaccuracies without the aid of a colorimeter should not be noticeable. The gamma curve suits the target perfectly, and most scenes will turn up at the appropriate brightness. The G27C4 provides an impressive gamut of SDR colors. It covers almost all of the sRGB color space used in most content and has a wide coverage of the Adobe RGB color space used in professional editing.
The level of color in SDR is excellent. Thanks to the strong contrast ratio, this display can show deep, vivid colors. Like with other VA screens, there are no issues with transient image loss or lasting burn-in. The G27C4 has excellent gradient efficiency. The matte coating diffuses well under the light so no blinding white spots are visible.
The box contains Power brick, HDMI cable, Power cable, and User guides. The Optix G27C4 has two extra features: It places a shooter games crosshair on the computer and places a timer on the device. There is a joystick to control the on-screen options panel at the back of the display.When playing at the maximum refresh rate, the Optix G27C4 has a great response time. The overdrive level can be adjusted like with most monitors. We suggest setting ‘Fastest,’ as it provides the best results. The answer time is nice at 60Hz. We suggest the setting ‘Quick’ which provides the best results with minimal over-shooting.
The Optix G27C4 has a black frame placement option to help minimize motion blur. The G27C4 has a flicker-free backlight to help mitigate eye pressure. The Optix G27C4 is outstanding for refresh time. It has a broad range of VRRs; but, by utilizing an HDMI interface, it maxes out at 144Hz. The G27C4 is good in size and resolution. The 27-inch computer is perfect for collaboration and gaming.

The ASUS VG279Q has a simplistic design, somewhat similar to the ASUS VG245H. This is mostly black with some red on the stand and frame. The stand is very small, yet it does serve the display well and will not take up very much room. Great ergonomics, identical to the ASUS TUF VG27AQ. The stand makes a very wide swivel angle, so it can be rotated either clockwise or counterclockwise in portrait mode.
When removed from the stand, the monitor is thin which is great for VESA mounting. Since the monitor’s height moves on an incline, the higher you position the screen, the thinner the entire setup becomes. The edges are thin, which is great for a multi-monitor setup.
It’s got high-quality construction. The product has a few good hardware features like the VESA screws. Great SDR max brightness rubber covers. For certain spaces, it can counter haze, so there is generally little difference for lighting for varying material which is fantastic. It’s shinier than the ASUS VG245H.
Good horizontal viewing angle, common for an IPS screen. This is great for sharing your screen with others. It has outstanding color accuracy out of the box. The gamma matches the goal nearly exactly.The VG279Q has superb precision following calibration. The temperature of the color is much closer to the target of 6500 K, and most people will not notice any inaccuracies of color. The VG279Q covers almost the whole sRGB color space used in most materials. Adobe RGB color space used in the editing of photographs is well covered.
Excellent range of color on SDR. The monitor can not produce very bright blues, which is normal for LCD monitors, and due to the low contrast ratio it can not produce dark colors. The VG279Q has good reflection handling, similar to the ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q. It is good enough for most rooms.
Decent, clear text. When enabling ClearType (top photo) the diagonal lines on the letters R and N are easier to read. Fantastic response time at its maximum refresh rate. The recommended setting for Overdrive, called Trace Free, is ’60’ as there is minimal overshooting. The ’80’ setting is faster if you want a faster response time.
The VG279Q has an excellent response time of 60Hz. Unlike at its full refresh rate, the optimal setting for Overdrive (Trace Free) is ’20.’ The insertion mode for black frames is called ELMB and can be allowed through the on-screen monitor. It dims the image noticeably, and cannot be used simultaneously with FreeSync, which are both normal.
The ASUS VG279Q has an exceptionally good refresh rate of 144Hz. It supports FreeSync, even with the new Adaptive Sync drivers on 10- and 20-series graphics cards from NVIDIA, but only over DisplayPortExceptionally small input lags in most types. The input lag is considerably higher with the activated BFI feature. There is a 3.5 mm analog audio out port with adjustable speed, and a DVI connector audio-in port

The TUF VG27AQ is similar in design to most other ASUS game displays. It has a square-shaped base with some red on it. The frame protects the display well and avoids any wobbles. The device has outstanding ergonomics, allowing for many normal modifications, such that you can comfortably put it in a convenient spot.It has a simple rear concept. In the stand there is cable handling. The edges of the panel are narrow and support a multi-display configuration. It’s got high-quality construction. It feels sturdy and stable, without any visible issues.
The VG27AQ has good brightness at peak SDRs. Most rooms are suitable for this. With different content, there is no noticeable variation, which is great. Great horizontal viewing angle, typical of an IPS panel. Once presented from the side the picture stays correct and it is easy to share the computer with others.The TUF Gaming VG27AQ has good, out-of-the-box color accuracy. It has outstanding post-calibration color accuracy. The TUF Gaming VG27AQ has an exceptional SDR color gamut that occupies the most popular sRGB color space. For certain luminosities the panel shows warm, saturated colors.
The VG27AQ TUF Gaming panel has good management of reflections. When your space has a few lights. Text quality is good, you shouldn’t have any issues. Turning on ClearType (top photo) is recommended, as it substantially improves the appearance of diagonal lines as seen on the R and N.It exhibits superb response time at its maximum refresh rate. The best setting for Overdrive, called ‘Trace Free,’ is ’80. It has the clearest movement out of all the settings but in some brighter transitions there is an overshoot. Whether this upsets you, the configuration for ’60’ works quite favorably, but a bit less overshooting.
Each display has an available black frame placement function to improve the motion presence. The configuration is named ‘ELMB SYNC.’ The ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ has a flicker-free backlight that helps to reduce strain on the eyes.
The VG27AQ TUF Gaming has an outstanding native refresh rate and can comfortably overclock to 165Hz. It follows AMD’s FreeSync refresh rate variable technology and is also NVIDIA approved for a gaming experience that is almost tear-free. The VRR range at 1440p can extend to 144Hz over HDMI.
The VG27AQ has excellent resolution and gives you lots of screen real estate. It favors multitasking and enables you to see more details about your gaming arena. The input lag of the TUF Gaming VG27AQ is remarkable. Even at 60Hz, which is significant for console gamers, it remains low.
For most purposes the ASUS TUF VG27AQ is a nice display. This monitor has great size and resolution, a very low input lag, fantastic response time, wide viewing angles, and excellent ergonomics. If you also share your laptop for work or a co-op gaming session, it is a smart idea. It is better suited to an average-lit room.
